A sweet course that is taken at the end of the meal is regarded as the desserts. It usually consists of sweet foods, and also includes some other items.
Desserts were first made using natural ingredients that were locally available. Desserts have changed with new techniques and ingredients with time.
They have changed from natural candies and nuts to complex multi layered cakes. There is a wide variety of desserts that we serve like cakes, cookies, biscuits, gelatins, pastries, pies, pudding, and candies. Fruits are also available on demand in dessert courses because of its natural sweetness.

Desserts usually contain sugar or sweating agents. They have a wide range of ingredients that makes them differ from the other desserts. Many of them are optional.
In desserts some of the common ingredients are flour, dairy, eggs and spices. Sugar gives moisture and tenderness to the dessert. Flour serves as a protein and gives a dessert its basic structure.
Flour desserts also contain dairy products. Desserts like ice-cream and puddings have some form of dairy ingredients, while cakes and cookies have small amount of dairy ingredients.
We get a moist dessert when we add dairy products. Eggs are added to form custard to help in thickening and rising of a cake like substance. Egg yolk adds richness to the dessert.
Dessert also contains some spices to add a variety of flavors. Salt is one such example that is added to balance sweet flavors
Desserts are somewhat known as the smaller courses to end a meal in earlier times but now in modern times it has become a major part of people's diet. Because desserts are sweet a small amount of sugar is required in the daily diet of a person. Dark chocolate is a less sweeter content, and is healthier and nutritional
